MyQuiz Powers Groundbreaking Digital Fan Experience at Gulf Cup 2019

The Challenge

With mobile and digital engagement shaping the future of live events, TMSe’s client MyQuiz set out with an ambitious goal: to transform the way fans experience sports inside the stadium. The idea was simple but powerful — create a digital activation that would engage fans in real time, boost the excitement of live matches, and strengthen brand visibility.

The question was: How can we take the energy of a packed stadium and channel it into a shared, interactive experience?

The Solution

TMSe, in collaboration with Vodafone Qatar and with the support of our partner IAS Dubai, brought this vision to life at the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup 2019 in Doha.

Together, we introduced the region’s first-ever in-stadium digital quiz: “Fan of the Match”.

Seamless Participation

At halftime, fans could simply access www.vf.qa/AGC from their mobile phones to join the quiz. With five timed questions on Gulf Cup history, participation was instant, easy, and fun.

Live and Accessible

As fans competed, the stadium’s giant screens displayed the live quiz — including questions, answer choices, and the names of top performers. The result? Not just individual participation, but a stadium-wide, collective experience.

Real-Time Competition

Each match crowned one winner: the fastest and most accurate quiz player. The title of “Fan of the Match” came with a Vodafone prize and, of course, bragging rights in front of thousands.

The Impact

The activation proved to be a hit:

  • Thousands of fans engaged across multiple matches.
  • Passive spectators became active participants, fully immersed in the action.
  • The quiz created unforgettable, shared moments that blended sports, technology, and instant gratification.

This project positioned MyQuiz, with TMSe’s guidance, as a pioneer of digital fan engagement in live sports, while also reinforcing Vodafone Qatar’s commitment to innovation in fan experiences.


The Results

The “Fan of the Match” challenge elevated the fan journey beyond watching the game. It turned halftime into a high-energy, collective competition that enhanced the atmosphere in the stadium and showcased the power of digital interaction in live sports.
